Germany hasnt beat Italy since....actually they may have never beat Italy. Torsten Frings (one of Germany's midfielders) got banned from this game because he punched an Argentinian after the last game (he was provoked).
Still. Germany and Italy both have 3 World Cup championships. Germany is playing on German soil, and has two of the top scoring players of this cup (Miroslav Klose is THE top scorer at 5 goals, Lukas Podolski is one of about 8? second place runner-ups at 3). I think Italy's top scorer is at 2 goals. And Italy only tied the US....I think we all know how mediocre the US is. (Although granted, they would have won had one of their players not scored a goal FOR THE US...but what does that really say about them?)
Who knows though. The bottom line is this game is probably gonna have me screaming...I'm already predicting fouls up the bumhole. Italy plays dirty and Germany is big.
Germany Germany Germany Germany
Oh yeah PS it's actually Jens Lehmann not Hans Lehmann. whoops, they sound so similar
Edit: Actually in 1990 Germany won on Italy's soil, where the Cup was held. We didn't directly beat Italy...Argentina knocked them out in the semi-finals, but still. Psh.
Edit Numero 2: Daniele De Rossi is still suspended from the Italian team (!) from when he elbowed Brian McBride in the face and bloodied him during the USA Italy match. Sweeet deeeaall!
